Welcome to SVRT.org
Virtual Reality (VR) technology is an exciting new tool that helps increase the effectiveness of psychotherapy. Evidence shows clear benefits for using VR as part of treatment for anxiety disorders—including fears and phobias—and many other mental health conditions.
Therapists can use VR while working with clients in-office or via teletherapy. Teletherapy or telemedicine enables a therapist to work with a client who is in another location by using a private video link. During VR therapy, the therapist has the ability to monitor and control what the client is seeing and doing in virtual reality, while watching and speaking with the client. Consumers can use VR for self-help or therapists may suggest VR homework between sessions.
Our VR therapy techniques help individuals manage and overcome anxiety by creating realistic scenarios that promote gradual exposure and resilience building.
Experience targeted therapies that alleviate symptoms of depression and promote a more positive mindset, fostering emotional resilience and well-being.
Through immersive VR experiences, we support individuals in processing traumatic events, reducing the impact of PTSD symptoms, and fostering healing and recovery.
Hi, my name is David Harrison I have two science degrees my first one was in Chemistry and my second one in Homeopathic medicine I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2006, 18 years ago, after completing 600 hours of clinical practice at the UCLAN student clinic in Preston. I have been trained in the new exciting development in psychotherapy called Virtual Reality Therapy. I am doing doctoral research in Virtual Reality at Bournemouth University so I am using the most up to date applications .This therapy has now been approved by the NHS and is recommended by NICE as the first line treatment for anxiety, agoraphobia, depression and PTSD.
What happens in a VR Therapy session. I will start with a demonstration of the PsyTech program which starts with relaxation, breathing exercises, binaural music , beautiful scenes from around the world , beautiful beach. After the client is happy with VR we will turn our attention to exposure therapy. Exposure therapy allows the client to test their reactions to e.g. phobias , such as arachnophobia (fear of spiders). There are no real spiders involved! But our brains can't distinguish between Virtual Reality and actual reality. So the sensations we feel when we see a real spider , heart beat increase, sweating , fear are reproduced in Virtual Reality. The program has an instant escape option called "Safe Space" . You can design your own "Safe Place" with the AI generator in the headset. When you want to you can return to the "spiders" . This can be repeated over 2 or 3 VR sessions until you no longer are affected by a fear of spiders. Most people do not need any more treatment after 3 or 4 sessions. Please use the contact form below if you would like to try a VR Therapy session for £40(30mins) Normal 120 minutes VR Therapy is £150. 1 hour £75. Please phone to discuss if you would like to see if VR Therapy is right for you. David Harrison 07706 130074
